L'Auberge, Surf Maroc
In October 2009 I was given the opportunity to set up, refurbish, and manage an 11 bedroom surf hotel and restaurant in Taghazout, Morocco for Surf Maroc. Europe's leading Surf and Yoga holiday company. During my time there, myself and colleague Lily O'hara redesigned the restaurant and hotel from top to bottom.
L'Auberge opened officially on the 20th November 2009 and quickly became the most popular restaurant and hangout in Taghazout. It has gone from strength to strength and continues to thrive today.
Situated on Taghazout beach, amongst the fishing boats and fish market, The Auberge restaurant is the perfect place to sit after a surf or yoga class and watch the waves rolling in.
•Menu - The menu was designed to appeal to a mixture of hungry surfers, healthy yogis, and tourists with a desire for some local flavours. This was achieved with a balance of fresh fish dishes, classic tagines, quality burgers, hearty salads, homemade cakes and great coffee. The kitchen also catered breakfasts for the guests of the hotel and surfer's packed lunches.
•BBQ Nights -As the restaurant started to reach its capacity night after night we needed to find a way to create an exclusive vibe for our hotel guests. We developed Thursday night roof top BBQ's. A delicious spread of beautiful salads, BBQ'd meats and fish, and music from local bands. This event quickly grew to a capacity of 100 people every week and is now a major weekly event for guest of Surf Maroc.
•Cinema Nights - Surf films, popcorn, set menu and a lot of homemade chai.
